The Viterbi School sets standards that attract the very brightest scholars. Upon arrival, our incoming freshman classes consistently have the highest SAT average at USC. Nurturing and supporting our students will ensure the future excellence of the School.

The world of engineering higher education is extremely competitive. What sets Viterbi apart? Merit scholarships, award programs and financial aid can make the difference in a highly qualified student’s decision to choose our School. In addition, a host of student services, unique educational programs and mentoring possibilities have increasingly made Viterbi the first choice for the nation’s top engineering students.

To keep the School competitive and attractive, individual and corporate support is crucial. Your support to new scholarship programs will help well-qualified students meet the cost of a Viterbi education. Other gifts that support areas like student activities, mentorship and internship programs, and international exchanges will continue to enhance the undergraduate experience for our future engineers.

Made possible by a generous gift from Viterbi alumnus, Ken Klein (BS BMEE ’82), the Klein Institute for Undergraduate Engineering Life—KIUEL—has been created to give Viterbi students a holistic college experience.

KIUEL provides a variety of personal and professional activities designed to enhance undergraduate engineering student life outside the classroom.

KIUEL’s three building blocks are leadership, service learning and cross-disciplinary programs, all resting on the solid foundation of a dynamic Viterbi student community.

Klein wanted to make a difference for undergraduate students. “I wish that I had had an institute like this to turn to when I was an undergraduate,” he says. “I know how tough the engineering curriculum can be and what a little help can do.”

I directed my gifts to USC Engineering toward programs that focus on student retention. I am impressed with how the Viterbi School is a leader in addressing this challenge with flexible and innovative programs for future engineers.

My USC scholarship changed my life and I wanted to return my good fortune. By using my company’s matching gift program, I was able to quadruple the impact of the scholarship I established.

I was able to stay at Viterbi because of a scholarship I received. I believe my education has brought me the professional success I enjoy today. That is why
I give back as an Engineering Associate.
I hope to make that same difference for another student.
