Welcome to Viterbi Class of 2011!
The Engineering Freshmen Academies

...are designed to help freshmen learn about the importance of engineering, the ethical implications of engineering decisions and understand how engineers affect society, technology, history and politics. They provide a unique opportunity for Viterbi engineering freshmen to develop an academic community with other freshmen and faculty beyond their department. In addition, the Freshmen Academies have "Coaches," upper division Viterbi students who are there to support and act as a resource for all freshmen during their transition to USC.

  • 1 semester, 2 credit course
  • Credit/No Credit
  • Small class size (limited to 40 students)
  • Provides additional exposure to engineering faculty in your first semester at USC
  • Hosts distinguished guest speakers, engineering lab tours, fun social outings
  • Creates opportunity to meet upper class engineering students, aka Coaches!

Who are the Academy Coaches?

  • Current Viterbi Sophomores, Juniors, & Seniors in all different engineering majors.
  • Students chosen to be mentors to Viterbi freshmen.
  • Coaches are there to answer any questions about the course, Viterbi, USC and any other issues or challenges that are facing freshmen during the freshman year.
